Kenya Utalii College (KUC) graduates ply their trade excellently nationally, regionally and internationally. The alumni of the hotel school are well trained to work for internationally reputable global brands anywhere in the world including the United States of America, Europe, Middle East and the rest of Africa. Their excellent service delivery has made them popular referrals by hotel chains. This good performance is attributed to internationally recognized training which prepares the graduates through hands-on and practically oriented system. KUC training is modeled along the Swiss model prescribed by hospitality trainers as the best across the globe.

Exemplary performance

Cognizant of this fact, when GR8 Limited wanted skilled professionals to fill the labour shortage on the Jersey Island, Kenya Utalii College graduates were their preferred choice. It is worth noting that Jersey Island has a long history of working with Kenya Utalii College. During the early 2000s, the College recruited the first group of KUC alumni to work on the Channel Islands. Their exemplary performance saw the archipelago ask for more graduates from the school. For quite some time, the airlifts continued until the Island stopped the exercise in the late 2000s.

The current group of 200 graduates were selected in 2019 after going through a rigorous interview process. They were then divided into four cohorts of 50 each, that is cohort 1 to 4, with 1 being those who scored the highest points in the interviews and 4 average performers. The top performers will be the first to travel to the Islands.

Kenya’s brand ambassadors

After a long wait, the first batch arrived in Jersey Island to start their duties. The over ten alumni of Kenya’s premier hospitality and tourism training institution were selected after rigorous interview process held at the college a year ago. But due to the disruption caused by Covid-19, their travel plans were halted

Working in Jersey Island does not only give the graduates an opportunity to earn a living, but they are also Kenya’s brand ambassadors. Earlier groups of KUC trained graduates played a pivotal role as our brand ambassadors. The current group has picked the same. On arrival they proudly displayed the Kenyan flags, a really proud moment for the country.
